I've heard that Bellaire is known for profiling, but this is ridiculous:

I didn't know Bellaire was know for racial profiling. If anything it's the MOST racially, religious and geographically diverse upper-middle to upper class neighborhoods in the city.

It's a shame. It seems like a pretty clear-cut case of it, too, in this instance. That poor kid. They say they won't ever be able to remove the bullet from his liver, he's unable to speak, and he may never be able to play baseball again.

I don't know if it's Bellaire PD or one bad cop.

do you really just see how it may have started with racial profiling? you dont see the reaction from a policeman to an aggressive behavior of a black man in a ghetto neighborhood?

Interesting:
Bellaire, Texas - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Looks very similar to Friendswood or the Woodlands. The only difference is location.

Um, that was in 2000. The mega McMansion craze hadn't set in at full steam. It has a lot of Upper class Asian and Black families now. It's also long known to have a wealthy jewish community as well. In comparison to Memorial, Tanglewood/Briargrove,Southampton and certain sections of River Oaks, it is diverse.

That's 6% Asian.

And yeah - I guess we'll see what really shakes out for the 2010 census. But if this site is the most current vs. wiki, then it's 83% 'non diverse' (in doublespeak) instead of 89%. That still doesn't say very much. A lot of people moved all over the metro since 2000.

They're hardly "ghetto."

According to HCAD they are living in a $309,000 house. Which actually translates to at or above 400,000 when you go to sell it. So that would be upper-middle at the least.

There're plenty of black families in Bellaire. It had more to do with the car. Either way the cop was in serious error.
