What happened to George Strait?

Also, how does one enter the chili cookoff?

For one, Houston isn't majority Hispanic. Second, there is Go Tejano night.

If I was wrong I would not have said it. Rap and hippity hoppity does not belong in a country event. PEROID !!!

But yes, there is indeed always great food.

Just want to let you know that Tejano (Texan) is different from a present day Mexican. Many Tejanos have been here for generations and this type of music is truly unique to our region. You will not find Spanish Tejano music outside of Texas. True Tejano music is like Spanish country and most that enjoy this type of music like western wear as well. Just because it is in Spanish does not make it right to exclude it. There's a lot of history behind it that you would not even be interested in hearing, as obvious from your post.

And please try not to judge others for not being like you.
Enjoy your days at the rodeo. Hope, for your sake, there is no diversity at all, so you can have a splendid time.
Well thanks for clearing that up without jumping down my throat. Honestly I never heard of it but from your description it dont sound like anything the vast majority of non hispanic would listen to. Is it like half country and half Mexican music? Sorta like TexMex is to food?

Sorry but I still see the country flair feel and atmosphere fading and I feel in the future the whole rodeo thing will not be what it is suppose to be.

Only time will tell............

I do love the livestock show and always will.

This is a regional rodeo, not exclusively for Houston proper.

Tejano music is a blend of Mexican + German (accordian, oom-pah polka beat).

I really like Tejano actually! It's very dance-able and always seems upbeat and happy.

remember the artisits do not get paid alot to perform at the rodeo. It is a scholoraship program for youths of Texas. Being able to see any of these entertainers for $10 is a great deal and you get the rodeo to boot!

I'm pretty sure I've paid more than $10. I think it depends on where you sit.

They should add a Go Zydeco night if they want to be truly all-encompassing of regional folk music forms. It would definitely fit in with the rodeo better than rap.
