Hi All,

It's been a while since I have been on here. I still have not moved to Houston but am going to be taking my first trip there (from DC) to visit friends and check out the area.
I am looking for some top restaurant suggestions that have great food at decent prices, think under $30 an entree. Ambiance is always a plus and although I love going out to trendy restaurants/areas I have found that I'd rather eat good food at a mediocre joint than ok food at a very trendy and flashy sort of place. I will only be there for a full weekend so I imagine I will only be able to hit 3-4 restaurants. I would love some ideas for Thai, Mexican, Chinese/Japanese/Asian, Italian and Brunch! Although I would welcome idea for any sort of cuisine if you think it is a must try!
BTW, just to give those of you who are familiar with DC an idea, my favorite thai restaurant in the DC area is Bangkok 54 in Arlington, for Sushi I pick Sushi-Ko or Raku and for the others there are too many to name!
Your thoughts, recommendations and suggestion, as always, are welcome.
Thank you!

You're in Texas you must have BBQ. I'm sure your friends have a place that they like.

Houston has a number of highly rated restaurants, you may want to check reviews on the local paper Houston news, entertainment, search and shopping | chron.com - Houston Chronicle. Much more than just BBQ and fried fish places. Look at Marks or Mandola Gulf Coast Kitchen as examples.
