The Heights has always been a great hot spot but a friend of mine I reconnected with in Houston told me that he was at the Heights last night and it looked pretty packed almost like Mid-Town. He said over by Studewood and where Fitzgerald's is at, there were a lot of people and new bars. Is this true? So now Houston has Mid-Town, Wash Ave, downtown and now the Heights to go have a good time? That's pretty good.

Not sure about the bars but Lights in the Heights was last night and that draws people from all over the city.

Ah, that's what that was. So on a normal weekend what's it like?

There are plenty of bars/restaurants in the area that stay busy. It's not as crowded as often as Washington ave is but still pretty busy

That's actually better! Wash Ave and Mid-town are nuts.

White Oak has turned into a bit of a party street between Heights and Studewood. A new, cool looking retail / commercial development is coming around Yale and 6th so it may extend another couple blocks.

Believe it or not, the old used car lot / mechanics shops area around 19th and Shepherd is now a trendy restaurant destination.

I lived on Oxford near White Oak from 2009-2013, and the area was well on its way to what you noticed. I'd say it was really starting to hit its stride around the time we sold. I have to say that i still miss living there and, in particular, our location. It's rare that you can walk to a number of places that you actually want to frequent. And being that the area is already pretty dense, you don't have so much the craziness issue like on Washington Ave. Not to say it doesn't get busy on White Oak and certain other areas on a weekend, but to me that was one of the bonuses of being in walking distance (but not next door).

The Heights is a great spot (was just there for Lights in the Heights at a friend's house). Although, I'm not sure how fun it is to have events like Lights in the Heights and White Linen Night, with tons of people (some of whom are very intoxicated) walking down your street. Obviously the Heights encompasses more than the area around White Oak/Studemont, but has to be annoying. That said, the Heights bar and restaurant scene is much preferable to Wash Ave or Midtown.
