Good afternoon all. I am currenlty living in Metairie LA. I may have an opportunity this year to relocate, myself only, to the Houston area for my job. The main headquarters will be in downtown Houston.

I would like to rent an apartment or home in a nice, confortable area that is within 10 miles of downtown. Any suggestions on areas?

Also. I am a professional musician who will be looking to start up or get with an established band (rock, metal or punk). Is there a music scene in Houston today? Are there places that showcase local, orignal bands.

Thank you for your time,

Christopher

Or Montrose or Rice Military. I would suggest east of downtown, but you said nice and comfortable, and it's still fairly spotty in parts over there. Good bones, though. Lots of potential. Eastwood is nice. Hopefully the rest of it will rival the west side of downtown (Heights/Montrose/Midtown/Rice Military) ten years from now. Closer in is the Warehouse District/Old Chinatown/East End area, or whatever they're calling it now. Mostly townhouses and condos. I was there last week and was amazed at how far the area has come since I used to hang around there ten years ago. Still has quite a ways to go, but it's worth a look.
