I'll have to ask her, but she felt safe inside her complex, and the guard at the gate was very strict. Even after going there several times and knowing my face, He still called to check if I was supposed to be there. So the safety was good.

Default living around reliant

That area is pretty low income. I live in 77025 which is adjacent. It's not DANGEROUs but property crime is pretty high. Make sure your condo/th has a garage! BUT be aware- traffic around reliant when there is a concert or event is HIDEOUS. I would stay away from Stadium drive if I was you-just for sanity's sake. That area may be a good place to invest though. They are starting to build luxury apt and revamp the strip centers.

I live on the other side of 610 in the 77054 and I feel pretty safe. We've lived there for about 3 years. In regards to stores located near by...on Main Street there's Super Target, Fiesta, Ross, Payless, Office Depot, etc. Most of our friends live in the area b/c our husbands attend/attended Rice. We like the area and the ease of getting around.

Crime used to be pretty bad in that general area in the 80s and 90s. It has improved over the last five years. There are some nice apartment complexes and townhomes in the Holly Hall/Almeda corridor but there are also some lower income apartment complexes. Around Reliant Stadium, more lower income apartment complexes but also a recent spurt of new townhomes as well, so as was stated earlier in this thread, this area is seeing an uptick in development and property values, and crime continues to go down.

Prostitution, for example, used to be especially bad but it has dissipated a good deal over the last decade.

All that said, it would be wise to be a bit more vigilant than in some other neighborhoods. It's still not exactly Camelot in that area of town.
