Currently live is Mar Bella...We did not experience flooding during Harvey.

There have been some mold issues with some (10%) of homes built in Mar Bella. But please know that it is certain homes, built during very specific time period, with certain sub contractors, that are having issues. It does not affect the vast majority of houses in Mar Bella. We actually had a mold inspection done just because of all the talk (meaning we had not seen any signs of mold, we just wanted to be sure)...our report was clean. Our house was built in 2011/2012. Really wish that all the real estate agents and those who actually are effected by the mold issues would stop being such alarmists, because they are effecting the home values overall. If you are concerned about the mold, do a mold inspection; if it comes up clean you are fine, your not going to suddenly develop an issue that would be similar to what those who are effected are experiencing. If you are thinking of buying in Mar Bella, do a mold inspection, just like you would do a home/pest inspection.

We like our house and the neighborhood. I would recommend Mar Bella.

Seems there are two stories, neither of them good:
1. From the chronicle, Taylor Morrison says roughly 100 homes were affected: "Taylor Morrison has built over 1,000 homes in the Mar Bella subdivision over the last decade and 10 percent of those homes have moisture issues, Taylor Morrison Communications Manager Jaclyn Gettinger told the Chronicle."
2. From the same chronicle article, from a resident, she estimates the number is over 300: ""There's at least 300+ homes [with mold problems] and that number is still drastically rising every day," Cooley said. "Every day this gets reported people are like 'Okay let me go check my attic' and they do a mold test and sure enough, bam, they've had mold for 2-3 years and didn't even know it."

This is a serious issue, and I would hardly call anyone bringing it to people's attention "alarmists"

There are approximately 1500 houses in the subdivision. The number is not "drastically rising every day"; perhaps that was the case when the article was written in October and the issue was just coming to light, but the number of homes effected has stagnated. There are a limited number of homes effected. You either have an issue, which was present from day one or you do not. It is not something that is suddenly going to appear after having a mold free home.

I am not saying there is not an issue with some homes because there is, but it is not nearly as pervasive as certain residents would frame it. The hyperbole is detrimental. I am sure that is is a difficult situation for those effected. The are some homes effected by mold in Mar Bella, that is a fact. It is not all homes, that is also a fact. If you are looking to purchase a home in Mar Bella you should do your due dilgence, as everyone should, when purchasing a home, that is a fact.
