Sheesh, what is the deal with UH and crime? If UH wants to achieve Tier 1 status, they really need to hire some security for their parking lots.

UH students on edge after recent attack (http://www.khou.com/topstories/stories/khou090413_jj_uh-crime-alert.d0619bc5.html - broken link)

This one was during the day and involved an armed abduction to an ATM 45 minutes away.

The one thing is never leave with the attacker. If they will shoot you right there in the parking lot, they will sure as thunder do it after they have driven you off somewhere. I would hand him my keys, my wallet, the Cartier, whatever, but I ain't leavin' with you.

Do not see that happening anyway

Ya, it's getting crazy. UH dosen't give a ... ! Keeps saying they want to improve it and it's just getting worse. But tuition is sky high. Looking like someone pockets tons of money.

Tuition there isn't any higher than any other public university.

I couldn't believe that! Rosenberg? Hmmm...a bit fishy? Speaking of tuition, I can't believe how pricey U of H is, and how half the tuition goes to fees. And having attended other public universities I am surprised by how many employees there are driving around in those little carts around campus...can't they walk.?. I see so many employees not doing much of anything; they should have them roaming the parking lots looking out for crime.

My dad always told me that same advice about not getting into the car. But thankfully in this case, the poor kid wasn't shot even though it was probably the worst experience of his life as he rode in the car with an armed kidnapper/thief.

I'm glad my wife will be done by this summer - she had to pay out of state tuition for 1 year and in state for last 2 years. The bleeding will stop soon.

Those police reports are very concerning too. She parks near where those things happened, however she never stays there past dark, and if she plans on then I give her a ride and pick her up.

Working at UH is good for my work/family balance as I never work past dark because I'm afraid to do so. I really hope they can do something about the crime there.
