Why is houston so UGLY?!??! I dont mean to hate ok just asking!?

If you've ever ridden shotgun in a car going down 45, you know exactly what I am talking about. There is so much junk, dilapidated apartment complexes, strip clubs, run down car dealerships, old strip malls etc.

Heck even down 59 there are strip clubs that have big giant COLORADO sign... how did they get away with that!?!?

Is there any decency within the city to have these places cleaned up?
Are people so "LAID BACK" that they would rather drive by these atrocities than doe something about it!?!?
Or is this some kind of setting that people in this city have come to accept?

Do you ever go anywhere in the city other than along the freeways and to UH?

Personally - and this is just me - when I drive on the freeways, I look at traffic around me and where I'm going.

EE, I'm gonna be honest. Every time I come home, I am so happy to see that rundown crap when I drive 45 South. I am just so happy to see a feeder road! You don't get that stuff up here (Philly).

Sadly, it has become a part of my memories of Houston. I grew up driving past that stuff. I hated it also! But being away from it makes you miss it.

Enough with the memories! EE, what are some ideas you have for getting rid of this issue? Honestly, I don't like bringing my friends to Houston and driving past MEGAPLEXXX. Who knows? Maybe one day I will own one of those strip malls. Rebuild that thing. Turn it into a hip workspace for my company. One Day . . .

So we can swap out the Colorado sign for a Wal-Mart sign? Does it have to lose the neon too?

I think the colorado sign looks cool. Though they really should do something with that Southwest Lincoln-Mercury sign and building with the cow skull that's half falling down.

Sounds like a bad case of grass-is-greener-itis. It ain't better anywhere else. Beats the hell out of dirty narrow asphalt-patched to hell freeways in PA.

45 on the northside is a dump between the Beltway and Downtown. South of Downtown is nothing in comparison!

I don't see what the big deal is with the dislike of the strip clubs
A lot of the places have already been shut down
Would you rather just have NO strip clubs at all?
How else are single mothers in this city gonna feed their kids???

So do you spend all your time riding on the freeway? Now I agree some of it can be ugly but when I travel inside the city there many parts that are beautiful.
