I have found a couple near Sugar Land but I know that many times they are not listed on-line, but rather through word-of-mouth. DOes anyone have any recommendations for any CSA or other co-ops? I am hoping for veggies and fruit. ALso, is the growing season year round in Houston or does it stop in the summer due to the hear?

Also would like recommendations for farmers markets near Sugar Land. Are these year round?

What are the farming communities SW of Houston?

What is Community Supported Agriculture? Don't know of any farmer's markets in Sugar Land. Maybe in Richmond/Rosenberg?

I found some great ones near Sugar Land- Houston has so many!! And unlike in the northern states (where they are only offered in the winter), Houston's CSA are year roud.

Basically you buy food directly from a farmer so it is locally grown, much fresher, and pretty much the same price as in the supermarket. The difference is that you "promise" to buy the seasonal food by your "investment" (payment) and then you don't know what you are getting until it comes. They give you a list of when crops are typicall ready. But you get a huge box of veggies/fruits every week or every other week. Here is an example of one (that I haven't used, I am not affiliated with- there are mny others). This one has a pick-up in Sugar Land (New Territory).
