Any suggestions besides the department stores on a good place to buy a $300-$400 suit?

Jos Banks or Brooks Brothers.

Jos Banks seems to have some very good suit sales every once in a while. You could call to see if one if coming up soon.

My husband has gotten some nice suits from J C Penny. Especially this weekend, I am sure you will find some steals.

If your budget is $300 - $400 the Men's Wearhouse. They are more expensive than Syms, K & G, and Suit Warehouse, but their service is unmatched. They are the best. The salespeople are superbly helpful. Let them help you.

You can get a cheap $100 to $200 suit from Syms, Suit Warehouse, and K & G, but you are going to walk out of the Men's Wearhouse knowing that you look good, that you have the right suit for the occasion, and that it will last. They also provide free lifetime pressing for their suits, a nice bonus if you need to take your suit on a business trip. And they aren't expensive by any means, just more than those other 3.

Personally, at this point in my life, if I had to buy a suit, I would go to K & G, Syms, Suit Warehouse, then The Men's Wearhouse. But I'm poor.

Jos A Banks sells great suits if you catch them during a sale. I have also bought from Mens Warehouse, again, sale helps. If not, become a member and you get discount mailers.
