Governor, perhaps..

I'm not sure what the transportation committee action was on this, and that's important since committee deliberation is a rather important step in the Texas legislative process..

For some reason I can't find stuff as easily in the Texas Legislative search - I have much better luck with the federal Thomas engine...alas.

Makes no difference whether your car has a license plate holder or not. Tx. says 2 plates. New cars either come with the frame, usually stuck in the trunk somewhere or one can be ordered. We always tell the dealer DO NOT drill hole in the car. We carry our front plates tucked in the side of the passenger wheel well....should we be stopped, we can throw it up on the dash quickly.

I keep mine under the trunk mat, but two weeks ago I was stopped in a rural county in West Texas and given a warning. No one ever bugged me about it for years, in the city or on numerous trips in Texas and all over the Soutwest. I think I'll do what you say on my next trip. Even though my car is far from new, I still don't feel like drilling holes in it.

If you do throw it by the dash when the police is chasing you then the police will know you cheated? Or just show the plate when you get pulled over?
