Hi everyone, we are very excited to celebrate our first 4th in Texas. We will also have to pick up a family flying in from Ireland, arriving on the 3rd.

We were told that many companies will be closed on the 3rd and we have these questions..

1. Will the traffic be bad on the 3rd? (we have to go to the airport, the arrival is at 4 pm)

2. Where can we check on what's happening in town for the 4th celebration?

Thanks..

Since it is a holiday, there may be more traffic in/out of town; but even on a normal day, you should always give extra time for the unexpected, such as accidents that slowdown traffic. Since your party is arriving from an international flight, I'd factor an extra 30-40 minutes to clear immigrations and customs. I hope your guests are prepared for the oppressive heat!

Thanks for the infor..yes, we did allocate for the immigration and custom clearing, etc...yeah...we told her to forget about jeans, just lots of shorts and sun dresses, and we have loads of sunscreen lotion to spare :-)

We were disappointed not getting any of the so called "rain" that everyone is talking about...anyway, I think firework should be banned completely. Why do people "burn their money" as there are going to be many churches and other organizations that have arranged for firework?!

My advice - Go out and enjoy the firework outing the responsible way like everyone else and forget about the possibility of burning your own house or your neighbor's...
