I wouldn't worry about getting any competition from me anytime soon but it's good food for thought.

Thanks again!
I was building new homes for 6 years, and doing repairs/remodels on the side.

Restaurants have a high failure rates, and gas stations have low profit margins and inconsistant, highly volatile gas prices which station owners can get locked into and ultimately lose money on.

My recommendation would be to uncover a need, and then figure out how to solve that need cheaper and more efficiently than anyone else. It may be by tweaking an old idea, or it may be by doing something altogether new. Analyze your personal skill set and then determine what you can do better than anyone else.

Thanks. I don't have very much experience in that field. I did work a couple of summers in high school and college for a guy that bought and flipped his own houses and really enjoyed the variety of work.

I currently work in IT and while it pays well with good earning potential, it's not all that enjoyable. Maybe I can figure out something to specialze in on the side and develop that craft into a business.

We need a frozen custard stand someplace closer to me than freaking Jones Road.

Some of you transplanted Midwesterners know what I'm talking about.
