I have to give credit to who ever it is that organizes this thing. It is not your standard little neighborhood parade, they really go all out. They get Politicos, local businesses and Churches, car clubs, schools, everyone involved.

Nothing kicks it off like a Harley club, I guess no one was going to argue with them if they wanted to go first!

Grand Marshall Gene Greene

Sheila Jackson Lee

It wouldn't be the 4th of July without....bagpipes?

Sylvia Garcia

Adrian Garcia

Sue Lovell in the middle

Gene Locke

Some Judges showed up too

Ave CDC, which develops affordable housing in the north side

Metro's entry, an antique bus

Did Santa come out for the 4th?

The Art cars came out in force

And in the midst of it, came the roller girls

Take your Tiki bar with you wherever you go

The parade loops the boulevard, with people gathering in whatever shady spots they could find, or create.

Knapp Chevy's entry

A couple of army Helicopters overhead

Did that banner say funeral home?

I guess so, love em for participating, but um...no, I'll pass on the candy you're passing out!

I guess Mom & Dad let you get a red, white & blue mohawk just for this?

A Corvette club

A Professional wrestler I think

Classic Chevy club

Here comes the low riders

Recycling group

and that was the end!

I thought I read the other day that other than Pride we don't have any sort of events or anything here in Houston. I should stop believing everything I read. Maybe I'll just look at pictures instead.

Sweet. Trying to work up the will to go out later myself...

Cute parade until (and of course), the lovely Sheila Jackson Lee wearing her trademark scowl. She looks thrilled to be participating - the energy she used hanging onto that flag while maintaining that consistently p-o'd expression. Why does she always look so irritable?
