We recently closed all our Chase accounts and moved to USAA. I can use my iphone to make deposits and use any ATM plus the interest rate is better.

I use two banks. Being prior-military I use USAA. I also use Wells Fargo and have been with them since 2nd grade (1992) when it was First Interstate. The primary benefit of WFC is the immense number of branches that they have in the Houston area.

Among my peers I would say Wells and Chase are the two most popular (most used) banks in Houston.

Prosperity Bank, I believe, is the largest actual Houston-based bank.

I've been using Schwab for the last 5 or so years and absolutely love them. I keep an account with Chase incase I need an odd request, but even my limited interactions with them have turned me off.

Schwab reimburses your ATM fees, gives you a good interest rate (used to be good at least -- nobody is paying well with the current Fed manipulation), free checks, etc, etc. 24-7 US-based customer service. Very happy with them.

Wells Fargo has one of the worst online banking programs
Program has no running balance column after each checking transaction
Delays in posting transactions until cleared and no notification of what transactions are pending
Recently moved to Houston and transferred all of my accounts to Wells Fargo but now i am ready to transfer them somewhere else

It sounds like you gave a third party access to your checking account. WF works fine for me. That said, I also use a credit union for many things, worth looking into.

Don't go to Wells Fargo! Before I moved here, Regions was my primary bank. After Friday, I'm going back to Regions! Regions is here as well.
