Hi!
My husband and I are just moving to Houston to set up our first home together, and having come from the UK we have absolutely no homeware or furniture to our name. We also have a tiny budget (Like $5000 to furnish a 1 bed apartment completely). Where is good to go for cheap furniture, cheap crockery, kitchenware, linens etc? I suspect department stores are probably out of price range...
, but we don't really want to end up living in an ikea catalogue....

For furniture, I'd suggest Craigslist. You can find used furniture for cheap prices. There will be cheap new furniture on there too, but the quality is questionable.
