Notice I said to play it safe. I know I will not spend nearly that much. But I'll bet I'll be safer than sorry. It was a guesstimate. I have no idea how much stuff costs in Houston but I do in Chicago, and it ain't cheap!

I know I'll have enough to live off of. Not to mention I forgot to add my health insurance costs of $147 per month. I'll be able to cover that from the gas and car stuff.

I like to have a fund for down payments/car repairs, when I need them.

I do have a job here in Chicago but I just wanted to ensure that my online businesses were steady before I made a move.

I could allocate more but most of my money is going towards another business venture.

Is $40k enough?

P.s- When I say Houston I am talking about the suburbs as well. Not just the city limits.

Yes but this also depends on how much you are spending also. Any debts?

How will he live tight? He should have plenty saved over to invest more or use it as disposable income.

One room for my office.
Does it matter what are you live in? High crime areas are pretty cheap. You should get like $500-700 for 2 bedroom.

The whole point is not to live paycheck to paycheck and have investment money so you can live a much better life few years down the road.
