Hello, I've been thinking about relocating from NYC to Houston for quite some time. The thought of starting a new life in a new city is kind of holding me back. While I enjoyed the convenience of public transportation and dining in the city, but the cost becomes a major burden. I'd rather move to somewhere with cheaper and affordable cost of living. Houston came up in my search.

I did some research.. some people were saying that Med center area is considered safe. . . when i look up the apartments in the area, there were quite a lot of negative comments from apartment ratings.com. are there a lot of burglary and robbery? Where are the safe neighborhoods? I am looking for room share for 500 to 700 per month, close to public transportation and easy accessible to downtown. for the short term, i need to rely on the bus commute.

any other advise would be helpful too. Thanks.

Public transportation is very limited in Houston. There are almost no trains. It is mostly buses.

Houston is a big city. I don't know that there is more crime per capita than in New York City. Where are you living now?

When the rental ad says ' all bill paid'? What does it include? (water, gas electricity) What is typical utility expense for 1 bedroom apartment?
