I do have some beef with them. I spend loads of money there. They tried their best to make sure I did not make the requirements, then after I was set to graduate, they did not help me finding a career.

It seems like a waste of a few years of my life, and now they are just greedy for more money. After leaving, I applied with HP for my old job (but upgraded) and they offered me the same amount I was making before going to UH. go figure.
You have no idea how Greedy UH really is right now. They havent made any upgrades to the current campus that effects students yet they continue to raise tuition.
I know alot of that money is for the future building of UH but there still needs to be more done The way upper management is handling things at UH they are a LONG LONG ways away from getting Tier1 status.

U of H has gotten or is going to get tier 1 funding, they plan to build more around campus to make it into a more traditional college. Apparently it should be done around 2012.

This campus does need some serious renovation.

More like 2112. There is no way that they will turn that whole mess around by 2012. If I remember right - their own " master plan" said something about 40 years. I also got to strongly disagree with the "glorified community college". That's total BS in my opinion. I hope you exaggerated. That's not even close to the truth.

Another random comment that won't help anybody and has nothing to do with anything that has been said. Way to go.

You may have to move to a different job with greater responsibilities to get higher pay. Was this recent, or many years ago? If it was any time in the past year, I can understand it - employers are hunkering down, as sales nosedive across the board by the biggest percentages since the Great Depression.

Do you think this is reasonable, way too high, or way too low? (I had thought UH was in the low 200's, so this seems a little low).

Cornell and Duke are 207 and 105 respectively. This list is highly problematic. Any survey in which these two are not in the top 20 is using criteria completely related to what corporate recruiters use. UH should be proud to be 499 on any list in which an Ivy League school like Cornell University of Ithaca, NY is ranked 207 (and no-name Cornell College of IA is ranked 104).

I expect you'd have to look for a position with a different company to get a higher salary. I know people who have gotten their MBA's with top 50 colleges (Businessweek and US News rankings) while working, and had to resort to leaving in order to move up.
