Congratulations on raising your GPA! HCC also requires the Compass placment test. You could probably take this in MN and transfer your scores to HCC.

Is it the warmer climate, the perceived sophistication of big-city life, the need to separate yourself from family and friends? Have you discussed your post-high school plans with your guidance counselor?

FYI: Junior or community colleges in big cities like Houston generally do not have student activities, organizations and campus lifestyle like those in smaller towns. Student housing is pretty much nonexistent; many students are older, perhaps married; some younger ones live with their families. Most junior college students here have full-time or part-time jobs. You may have both day and night classes at different campus locations so a car is essential. Big-city living is not cheap when you figure in the rent for a relatively safe apartment, food, car expenses and incidentals.
Very good points!!

Ya, right now I am just looking at colleges all over the countries. I am going to be a junior this year, and I am just looking all over, especially if you see some of my other posts on other cities. Ya, I see the difference in in-state and out of state tuition. It is a lot. I haven't done any talk with a counselor yet, but I definitely will be later. Thanks

With aspirations so high... I mean Junior College, WOW! How did your GPA fall so low?

Fall so low??? Theres plenty of people who just don't care and have around 1.0.
And whats wrong with wanting to go to a junior college? You make it seem like a negative thing.

Some out-of-staters like Blinn College in Hempstead -- one of the few community colleges with dorms.

There are always people who will be negative about a junior college. Just ignore it and do what you want -- furthering your education is the most important thing not what others think. Junior college transfers to most of the big state u's anyway. A lot of kids going to Universities take basics at communities/juniors when they come home for Christmas (3-week minis) and summer.

I anticipate that the OP will likely complete their education ( anywhere they see fit ) and will go on to achieve great things. With this accomplished, chances are very good they won't have to resort to trolling a forum looking for opportunities to belittle others to boost their own low self esteem....

Also GPA figures can be different depending on school district. It helps to put GPA score/Maximum so people understand what it means.
