I'm Claypool's widow. There was discussion about compiling some of his reviews after death, but it never happened. I was not able to get to his reviews thee last time I tried, but would still be interested in making a compilation for some of his fans. Not sure how many of them are left out there. His knowledge about music was encyclopedic, and his ability to remain objective - even about performers he loved - always amazed me. I've never known anyone who could quote conversations so accurately - without a tape recorder - and many he interviewed accused him of secretly using one. Bob was a character - and you should have heard some of the off-the-reord stuff!

Thanks for sharing with us. There are probably more of us fans around than you can imagine. Many many of us native Houstonians grew up with Bob Claypool as our window to the world of music, especially live music.

And we would LOVE to hear the off-the-record stuff!

Bob was great, as was Marty Racine of the Chronicle.

I found a few Claypool columns that I cut from the newspaper years ago. I took photos of them & they’re readable, but I don’t know where/how to post them. I would be happy to e-mail them, though.
