I just heard on the news that the route to Galveston is closed this weekend.

I usually take I 45 South and go all the way to Galveston. Now I45 will be closed at Calder Road exit. Can anyone suggest a route from there?

I am sure they are not going to close the complete I45 highway as that will make no sense.

Here is the news:

Those alternate route directions stink. There are better routes especially from the east side, I always take 146. Alot quicker once you get past Kemah. I know that 6 from the west side is probably the best. Hwy 3 will probably take forever though.

45 is closed on the north bound side so comming back is the problem
hwy 3 has alot of lights in clear lake & webster you could also take 288 to hwy 6 back to 45. Goin 146 is not bad either a little further if you live on the west or south west side of town

146 is your best bet...like said above, it may get jammed up around Kemah and the Boardwalk.

The Hwy 6 route is a good alternate that not many people know.

LOL...they knew about it yesterday...it was backed up for miles! Don't know if it was because of an accident or just weekend traffic avoiding the 45.

Yes I suggested a family member take 146. Said it seemed out of the way and he opted to do highway 3 instead - - major regret in not listening to me. Of course, I bet 146 is packed today as well.
