Would anyone have any recommendations for a good qualified Home Inspector for a brand new home? Also, if someone can let me know exactly what I should be asking from these Home Inspectors. We are building a new home and they will start soon for some reason my realtor doesn’t want me to use his one as he made some sort of error before and has just recently dropped him. Now I do not know where or how to find one!

I used Bill Harvey with All Pro Inspection (281)477-7875, he has also inspected houses for my family. He does a good job, I built a brand new house and he found 18 pages worth of items, and added many things that needed to be changed, but were not techically in error (example he put that the voltage type of plug in the garage, was not standard for new homes...etc.) I had the report in less than 48 hrs from the inspection.

Thank you So much! Do you suggest that we have the inspector in for all phases of the building process ? Or just at the end ?

We were referred to Eagle Engineering and Inspections by my DH's company.

The 3-phase inspection includes a Prepour Inspection, Framing Inspection and Final Inspection. Our Prepour was done just last week.

I highly recommend brad leland Inspection - Houston Home Inspector
high res pictures and full report on CD. they'll go thru the long printed report with you same day. did you know that the dryer vent must be 25ft max, minus 5ft per bend? well he was into code building details like that. this finding made my builder add a fan on this vent

theyre a very friendly couple too

I'd recommend RW Home Inspections [Mod edit 10 post to link off site]. The owner is the person who comes out for the inspection, Richard. He's professional and personable. The report he gives you is comprehensive and even includes pictures of the problems he notes during the inspection so even a home repair retard like me can know what to look for. Richard was good about answering our questions when we called him after reading the report.

Default Home Inspection

I also had Richard inspect my new construction home in Katy, quick turnaround.
He included a lot of detail in his report and even included pictures of items that needed to be addressed.

Reading these posts reminded me to post another thumbs up for Richard Washington. I first met the guy when he worked as a warranty person with Lennar homes. I had some minor issues with a few items after our purchase of a new home from Lennar, and he was really responsive. I saw his name on this forum and recognized it and was surprised he left Lennar and now has his own inspection company. I recently had him inspect a new construction home for me in its framing stage, and he delivered a good report within 24 hours (although only a few minor items were found... probably because TaylorMorrison is a good builder). He's a great guy and will definitely use him for the pre-close inspection. I recommend him highly especially if you are buying a home that is not brand new.

Default Eagle Engineering

We used Marc Fredlich with Eagle Engineering and were very impressed. It was not a brand new home, 1.5 years old, so there was just the one inspection, but he found a few code type things and the major one was the AC wasn't working great. He did a favor for my realtor and got the inspection done and the report turned in the morning before his vacation flight to Florida, since we were only in town a few days. He was SUPER friendly (although so far I've been blown away by everybody's friendliness in Texas) and thorough.
