Central Market on Westheimer and Weslayan also had them, roasted fresh. Now they have them roasted, but in sealed packages.

I'm from Colorado and the green chiles there are great but usually ready in September. A lot of local farmers roast them. They aren't Hatch but oh my goodness they are wonderful. So much flavor. We always bought them by the half bushels. Half bushel of what they called the dynamite and half bushel of the Sol Bagged them in smaller bags for later use. They are great most any way. In scrambled eggs with cheese. Green Chiles sauce made with a pork base on burritos. I'll have to make a note for next August to be ready for the harvest in August. Thanks for all of the imput. I'm jealous!!! I missed out.

It is too bad you missed them. They normally can be found in NM until about mid Sept. I don't think we have to get Hatch, you are right, there are others, we are all just used to getting Hatch. We were in NM the first week they were in the market (Aug 2-5th) we brought back several lbs and roasted them ourselves. Now our freezer is full for the winter.
