I'm coming for business soon and am wondering if there's real Chinese food in Houston, preferably super spicy Sichuan or Hunan style. I did a search, but found people recommending PF Chang's and the like, which is not Chinese food. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Houston is the only US city in the South with a Chinatown, so yes, there is real Chinese food here prepared by real Chinese chefs. This isn't your typical urban Chinatown like you would find in San Francisco, Chicago, or New York though. Its very suburban & car oriented full of brand new shiny strip malls brightly lit up at night in Chinese neon characters. Many places stay open till midnight or 3 am. The street signs are even written in Chinese.

Thanks guys. I'm very skeptical of Chinatowns in most cities. In Wash. DC it's a Starbucks, a CVS and a Fuddruckers with Chinese characters out front and big Chinatown gate over the main drag. We have a Chinese "cultural center" in Phoenix and it's just a small strip mall. But it's pretty authentic food. My (Chinese) wife dug up a few Sichuan places on Bellaire and that's not too far from where I'm staying. I swear, I've been to a few places in Los Angeles (not in its Chinatown) and Virginia that were as good as anything I'd had in Chongqing or Chengdu, just a lot more expensive.

Bellaire Blvd. I can't tell you wich one to go to because there are too many. You know you are in an authentic Chinese place when you are the only one speaking English.

Try Sichuan Cuisine for Sichuan style.

people recommend PF changs because it started here with the original pei wei. Of course since it franchised it is not the same.

I like Gigi's in the galleria.
