I went driving through Linkwood and Woodside neighborhoods today looking for a house to rent. I've always liked this area because of the 1950's architecture, and because of the schools, however, the area is not as well kept as it used to be. And, there are ALOT of houses for rent. Way more than I expected.

It occured to me that maybe this area flooded during Allison. Does anyone know what's going on over there?

Prices are strong in there. It may be due to the "greying" of the neighborhood, where the older residents are just not as able to maintain things like they used to, or people are expecting it to go the same direction as the areas north of bayou (McMansions everywhere), so they don't want to spend a lot on the houses since they figure they may be selling for the lots soon anyway. Or some of all of the above.

It has been a while since I have been over there so I am not sure. It never seemed to really have the curb appeal of Meyerland, for example, but prices are rising in there so it isn't really "going downhill" or anything.
