As a first time buyer I feel like the $8K tax credit is payback for the tax credits folks with children get from the government every year. Nobody ever seems to complain about that. I also have to pay taxes to the school districts, yet I don't have children. So I'm subsidizing parents. This $8K is a small consolation prize really compared to all the subsidizing i'm forced to contribute to over my lifetime.

You would prefer kids grow up with no school and turn into criminals and rob you blind? Your saving money if you think about it. Also by your ability to read and write I assume that you perhaps attended one of these fine subsidized schools at one point? Just think of all the unfortunate single folks living in your neighborhood that had to support your ungrateful breeder parents with their tax dollars.

Oh, REALLY...people are still paying exhorbitant prices for real estate b/c the govmint decided to keep the bubble going with its so-called incentive program.

Default Always bad apples...

I don't have too much of a problem with the incentives for first time home buyers, but I do have a problem with the same government offering deals that for some, will hurt them in the end.

Many of us "old fashioned" home buyers had to pay cash, 20% down to get a mortgage. The same old tricks to give away money to those who have no business getting a house in the first place because they can't afford it seems silly to me.

With the egg still wet on their faces, those responsible for the housing issues which led to the global economic downturn now bask in the light of once again making housing 'affordable'.... aka Hooking The Brother Up! The same can be said for the cash for clunkers program... in Houston.
