If you're non-white or non-christian Mont Belvieu is not for you.

Do you have specific experience or an anecdote to back up this blanket assertion?

I grew up in the Cove, Beach City area and graduated from Barbers Hill a few years back. Loved it. Married, two kids later lived in Baytown. Now still married, have a 20 yr. Old and 12 yr. old moved to Cypress and live in Fairfield. Been here a little over a year. Here for my 12 year old. The schools had a top rating. We are ready to take on the next big thing life throws our way.

Angry Unbelievable

Wow. That's all I can say. I grew up out there. Everyone got along. We didnt go around discussing our religious beliefs. You make Barbers Hill sound like the school in Footloose. You must have made someone mad.

Or he is just going on a standard assumption:

Texas Xburb = racist Bible thumpers

Some people just have this core belief that the further you get from the city, the lower the character of the people who live there.

This thread's a year and a half old but I still stand by my assertion. Mont Belvieu is the white-flight suburb of Baytown and the social structure centers around a handful of churches, and there's very little else to do there. If you're not a part of one of those churches then it's a very boring, closed-minded place to live.
