It is a suburb of Houston and pretty typical of its kind. Unique features include coastal prairie and the need for windstorm coverage on already expensive insurance. Otherwise pretty much the same as every other suburb. Oh yeah! the schools are pretty good and it was voted one of the best places to live a year or two ago.

It's mostly nice neighborhoods and parks. There's a central business area with a grocery store and some strip malls with restaurants and shops. It's been a decade since I've been out there.

We were undecided between Pearland and Friendswood but ended up making our decision based upon the school ratings in FISD compared to Pearland, the crime rates and taxes. Yes, we bought an older home, but we didnt have any storm damage and most of our neighbors didnt either. There is somthing to say for good old fashioned home Thankfully! When we drove through Pearland, I think just about every house (including the brand new one just built that we almost bought!) we looked at had a blue tarp on it. We have been so happy here.

Friendswood is a mostly middle to upper class commuter suburb. Mostly housing with a few local businesses (Clear Lake shopping takes care of what you cant find in town). Highly ranked schools, very family friendly.
