Does anyone know anything about the neighborhood surrounding Robert Clark Park? I know that there's a veterinary clinic not far from it, as well as, Burbank Elementary. Is it safe? Also any ideas on which high schools serve that area?

That area is not the best. It will register a blank with most people on here since it pretty much lacks any sort of identity & is just not on most people's radar. I don't know which High School is there. I wouldn't hold too high an expectation for it though.

Is there something specific that is attracting you to that location like family in the area or something?

The local High School is Sam Houston. I think it has now become a magnet school. Lived around that area for 21 yrs and its not a great area. The only thing I see going for this area is the extension of the light rail will be close by.

Sam Houston High was pretty close to being shut down by the state about 2 years ago for year after year of poor performances (can probably google the articles about it). Guess they have gotten a little better. Haven't heard anything bad about Burbank Elem. but it is not the greatest neighborhood.

There was nothing in particular that attracted me. I'm just looking around trying to find an affordable 2 Br apartment for under $700 in a decent neighborhood while hubby works and I focus on school.

I would pass on that area then. Especially if good schools are a priority.

I lived in that area for 25 years now. Its not the best but, it has improved. It was bad when I was a kid. Clark Park was a dangerous place! Drive by shootings, gang fights, drug dealing etc. But things seem to be better. My street is pretty decent all the ppl on the street are pretty much decent ppl its quite. The schools nearby are, Sam houston, Burbank El. and Middle school, Lyons El., and the church nearby is st. charles. Its not the best area but, it isnt the worst either take it from me i use to walk from sam houston to my house after school and i live rite by clark park.

I also know the area very well since I still have friends that live at Clark Park. This area is not the best but not that bad either. It's a working class Mexican neighborhood who feeds off to Sam Houston High School. The metrorail will hopefully bring up that neighborhood which will be just off Fulton. I believe they are building a Walmart or Sam's close by where the old Northline Mall use to be located at.
