Buying a tract home in League City. Builder wants $23K to install 1300 sq ft of engineered wood, so we will have builders grade carpet put in, and contract out for wood flooring.
Can anyone suggest a floor dealer they've been satisfied with?
Thanks!

check with flooring services of texas or with reynolds tile. both do the work for the builders and both can do it for less then retail. neither is very close to your location but if you like the materials the builder has it is the same exact stuff. builders put rediculous mark up.

so get the cheapest carpet they offer, then pull it up yourself. retail or one of my people they will charge an arm and a leg for remove and haul off the carpet.

When I looked around, Lumber Liquidators (south Loop) had the best prices. They are quite helpful in the showroom, too.

I have heard good things about lumber liquidators. Floor & Decor has some pretty decent prices, not sure about installation.

There is a place on the Gulf Freeway I have used for carpet when people just needed to get some new stuff thrown in to sell a house. They were the cheapest and the most reliable on meeting their installation. They did a bamboo floor install for one neighbor and they remarked they were the only contractor-type that showed up when they said they would. It is Shan's carpet on the inbound side between Howard and Park Place.

I haven't actually compared flooring prices at Lowes vs. Home Depot, but I would assume they would be pretty comparable.

I used carpet giant for a non-carpet project and it was a disaster. I would avoid them like the plague.

Flores Floors for "real hardwoods"......

We used Roberts flooring at an old house, and had an employee install them due to us thinking we were gettign a good deal....if it sounds to good to be true, it is! The float was AWFUL! They had a beautiful selection, but I think you can find them at more places now.

Good Luck! 23K for 1300 sq ft is RIDICULOUS!
