We worked with Affordable Quality Water, a locally owned company, and were very happy with them: Affordable Quality Water Katy/Houston.

Make sure you get 3 quotes on water softeners. The prices can vary by thousands of dollars.

I've worked with a guy in Katy for a number of years, he is an excellent installer. And he knows softeners very well. Although his web site is parked, I emailed him about this and he told me to use this address. bob@bobthehandyman.com. Tell him Gary sent you.

I also used Affordable Quality Water & was extremely pleased with the softener, reverse osmosis, installation, & price! I did get many quotes and this company was the least expensive BY FAR!!! They had the same equipment that the builder was offering....just at less than half the price. I was so pleased I got a sprinkler system through them as well! Good luck to you!

Thanks for pointing me to Affordable quality water in Katy. I got a water softener (60k) and R/O package (Watts 5 stage) installed this week and I am extremely pleased with the price and service received. The owner Paul made sure I am totally satisfied by taking care of a small issue quickly and stopped by two days later to do a water test to show that the softener works properly.

60K? Should be a very good system.

I recently had a water softner installed in Katy as well as a RO system that feeds the fridge ice machine as wel for $2700 out the door. And part of that is having to run underground line about 25' so it would sit behind my AC's.

If you paid $6k, you over paid, imo.

we have depure and the system is fine now that it's up and running but we had problems with the install.
I think it was the installers first install as they weren't very professional and connected some things wrong.
They also didn't bury the lines deep enough in the yard (I would say 3 inches max). Those eventually broke and they wanted to charge a ridiculous amount to fix it, we had our sprinkler guy fix it for cheaper and do it correctly.
They also charge about 150 to just come and look at your system should anything go wrong or if you want your water checked.
