It's been a long time since I've posted.

I relocated from Seattle to TX in 2007. Settled in Plano/Friso area & love it. In January 2009 I was laid off. I now have the opportunity to relocate again to Houston. I have 2 beautiful angeles that will be moving with me. One is 12 & the other is 7. Life as we know is will be over for the 12 y/o. She is very active in her middle school here. She is currently on the cheer squad & is in band. She will be devestated. Especially as we will moving in the middle to the year. My only saving grace is that this move comes before she will goes to high school in the fall 2010.

I have a friend living in the Katy area & I visit her often. It seems to be very nice, & am seriously considering moving there. My job would be off of Rodgerdale Rd in Houston. According to Mapquest, it's about a 30 minute drive from Katy. I've sure that will change depending on traffic. To lessen the blow of moving, I am desperately trying to find a really great school district to enroll them both in. One that has great academics, in addition to activities.

Please help.

Signed,

Hoping not to be the worst mother ever

I think Rogerdale is close to Westheimer & Beltway 8. If so, Katy would be a good option. Are you looking to buy a house or lease first?

look at www.har.com to get an idea of housing prices and what schools they are zoned too.

What's your price range. Spring Branch ISD and Memorial schools would be very close to Rogerdale.

I live in Katy, Cinco Ranch. Great area for kids and wonderful schools. Lots to do.

I hope you find a great place and your children find great new friends and activities. I bet all will be fine, but I know you feel awful for your daughter. Let us know how things are going.

Thanks everyone. I'm still trying to get my mind around all of this. My children are the most important thing to me. It's important to make the right decision.

I would stay put and find a job in Plano though. Why ? Because the school is way better , and north Texas is also better in term of job opportunities. Your daughter seems doing so good at school where she at right now. Why risk for a change ?

Been there, done that and still regret until these days.
