From which states/cities in Mexico do the majority of Mexicans come from in Houston?

I don't believe people come from a certain part of Mexico. Most of our Mexican residents are probably illegal immigrants who come from poor villages.

I don't know what the purpose is, but it's an interesting question.

In Dallas there are many Mexicans from the D.F. (Mexico City) and Guanajuato for some reason. I know in the Rio Grande Valley there are a lot of Mexicans from Monterrey and Veracruz. This question is to find out about where Mexicans hail from, that is the point of the question, I don't see why people are catching an attitude with the OP.

My husband is from DF. I have a feeling most are from Northern Mexico because of the Mexican food available in Houston. Chicago (where we just moved from) is much more central Mexico. All of our tortillerias are corn tortillas for example, where here you can get the really good flour tortillas but corn tortillas are almost non-existent. We are used to more black beans, not charro beans with meat. It's new but good!

Anyway, are you looking for something in particular?

I know you didn't ask this, but if you are wondering about which Latin American country Hispanics are from I seem to keep meeting Venezuelans. I'm not sure the reason- I would have thought oil and gas, but none of my Venezuelan friends are in oil and gas...
