Don't know where one is in Houston; but I'm sure if you open your front blinds, you might be able to spot one across the street from you (and a walk down your block will find you your first love - Taco Bell).

Taco Cabana is next to McDonald's and around the corner from Starbucks.

We go to Theo's all the time for lunch at work.
Great food and I agree its definitely more Tex-Mex than authentic Mexican food.
At least that's what all my Spanish speaking co-workers and friends say.
The drinks are wonderful as well.
The only bad thing is trying to get a parking spot during lunch hours and the fact that its not in the greatest neighborhood.

Teotihuacan is definitely Mexican not TEX MEX. Spanish flower is Tex Mex.

Another restaurant that I highly recommend for real mexican food is Fiesta Guadalajara on Irvington and Fulton intersection.

So it's literally miles away from downtown then?

No wonder this town has a problem if people think 3.6miles constitutes 'being in a place'.

Still going to give this place a try although I'll be cycling rather than walking to it at nearly 4 miles away.

What are you from Portland? 3.6 miles would be considered very close in Houston. Hell I have to drive 44 miles just to get to "downtown". And what "problem" are you speaking of? Wait, you know what? I don't really care and it's off topic.

Bah. I walked something like four miles yesterday. Probably a little more. Not that I'd be looking forward to walking back full of Mexican food. Then again I'm not above getting on a bus like some people.

When I was in Austin I went to this upscale place called Baby As. You know one of those fancy places where a meal cost more than $5. I ate some authentic Mexican burritos and hard shelled tacos. Then I drank an ancient aztec drink called a purple margarita. Still not as good as a volcano taco, but I enjoyed it. I am planning a trip to Mexico soon so I can try volcano tacos in Mexico.
