Hello all, I am from Cincinnati, OH and I am moving to Houston in Spring of 2010. I could really use some help in picking the neighborhood in Houston that is right for me. A little background info:

--25 year old straight male
--Recent college grad.
--Huge sports fan
--I love going out to bars, clubs, etc.

I mean, thats basically it. (I know, right?) But I'm not like a big artsy type, not a big gamer or anything like that. I basically follow sports, go out, meet people, have a great time, watch movies, and dine at restaurants. Oh yeah, and work (when I find a job down there) Thats basically the extent of my life.

Basically, what I'm asking for is a neighborhood with a good night-life and a high concentration of young, single, professionals.

Based on what I have been reading in these forums, Midtown sounds like its right up my alley.... let me know what you guys think? Any information would be much appreciated!

Midtown, Upper Kirby or Rice Military area. Washington is where the younger/party crowd hangs out most of the time.

All depends on where you will be working. Do you know where that will be?

All the posters list of areas are right on, based on your description of lifestyle and needs.

Just look "in the loop". Look closer to highway 10 and downtown.

I agree with in the loop. You sound like one of those dudes who needs to be in the middle of anything thats going on. Personally, I'd say away from the East side of Houston. But that's just me.

Our son* recently moved back to Houston and choose Midtown. He lives in the Amalfi apts; close to everything he likes.

*25, recent grad, huge sports fan, bars, etc--sounds like your twin, but so does every 25 yr old male
