The worst schools in Texas | School Zone | Chron.com - Houston Chronicle

Doesn't necessarily always mean the entire areas are bad - just these particular schools in those areas .... so when you are looking for a home in an area you like - make sure it isn't zoned to one of these undesirables. Many communities are served by multiple schools -- some good --- some not so good.

The article is subject to scrutiny as all articles on anything is, haha. They don't do a side by side comparison with the schools. They don't even follow individual students to see if there is improvement. There are way more things that affect whether a school is bad. The parents involvement, their kids and other kids behavior, the teachers skills, etc, etc. Taks scores or anything like that doesn't matter, because lots of schools practice most of the year just to pass that one test. Parents need to go to these schools(if they are in their districts anyway) and then make their decision on if the school is right for their child or not.

P.S. Some of these schools on this list are really bad. The parents aren't active, the children act like a*%holes, and the teachers lack of interest in seeing the students succeed. Trust me I know for sure, this is not hearsay. Most people(especially on here) only know what they hear.

Do you have any reason for this? The amount of sweeping generalizations on this forum are just ridiculous. For anyone that reads things like this, just be sure to do your own research also. Don't go completely on anything, anything you read in these forums, haha.

Yates shouldn't be on it. They have the best basketball team in the area. One of the best in the country (won an interstate tournie against the best in Honolulu). Who cares about academics when you're a baller!

Ummmm, there's a High School in Alief that outranks all but Cinco in Katy... Kerr HS is in the top ten for the metro.

I've always thought schools in Texas would quickly improve if instead of taking money away from these districts if they didn't make standards they took away their football programs instead.

every Alief graduate would love to think theyre the last good product of the once great Alief ISD. Escaping to the exurbs seem to be the achievement to have here, as if it finally turns their skin white
