This is true.....I didn't know that the first time. But, luckily, they had an airport employee sitting there doing absolutely nothing except explaining to people that "you don't get a ticket if you use your ez tag". so, maybe a sign would've been a more efficient way to clarify this......

one more unemployed airport employee now, I guess.

On a somewhat related note.
Does anyone know what the people in the booths on the I-10 toll roads actually do?
I pass by and I just see them standing there watching cars go by.
Is that what they are paid to do, just watch cars go by?

They're supposed to make sure there's 2+ people in the leftmost lane (the HOV lane), at least that's what the plans were when they were building them. How that enforcement happens... *shrugs*

Also, while I'm off topic, it took a while and a lot of convincing by my colleagues... but I've grown addicted to off-site parking. First, no long walk to the car since these places pick you up at your car (or not terribly far from your car if you go with cheaper parking) and they pick you up from the airport within 5 minutes (shorter if the place you use has a number to dial to summon a shuttle).

Not only do I get door-to-door service, I don't need to navigate the nightmare that is IAH... and not dealing with the crossing many lanes of traffic all at once at Hobby is nice.
