I am not sure if my Windows are tinted correctly according to the Texas law and I know there is a website for this.

What does it mean by 25% reflective?

Anyone got pulled over for Tint windows and how much is the fine?

I was told the cops have a machine to check if it's too dark or not.

100% would be completely dark. Thus, you can't see through it.

I know 5% is what's used on the back windows in limos. The front windows (driver and passenger) have a certain percentage that can be. Here's what I found on a website:

HOW DARK CAN WINDOW TINT BE IN TEXAS?
Darkness of tint is measured by Visible Light Transmission percentage (VLT%). In Texas, this percentage refers to percentage of visible light allowed in through the combination of film and the window.
• WindshieldNon-reflective tint is allowed along the top of the windshield above the manufacturer's AS-1 line.
• Front Side WindowsMust allow more than 25% of light in.
• Back Side WindowsMust allow more than 25% of light in.
• Rear WindowAny darkness can be used.

HOW REFLECTIVE CAN THE TINT BE IN TEXAS?
Similar to sunglass lenses, some tinting film contain metallic elements that help in reflecting incoming light and reducing the glare and heat generated by visible light.
• Front Side WindowsMust not be more than 25% reflective.
• Back Side WindowsMust not be more than 25% reflective.

OTHER TEXAS RULES AND REGULATIONS
• Restricted ColorsThe tint color(s) of RED are not legal by state law.
• Side MirrorsDual side mirrors are required if back window is tinted.
• Certificate RequirementsManufacturers of film need to certify the film they sell in the state. Ask your dealer if they are using ceritified film.
• Sticker RequirementsThe sticker to identify legal tinting is required between the film & glass on the driver’s side window.
• Medical ExemptionState allows medical exemptions for special tint. For more details about the specific terms of the exemption, consult your state law.

Correct. 100% means it allows 100% of the light through.

Whoever did the tint on your car should tell you when dark is to dark, he also should have the equipment to measure it. Just go back and recheck it and compare with info from ihafer

Does anyone really get stopped for this. My tint is illegally dark, (purposely asked 4 it), and Ive never been stopped for this. I was stopped 4 speeding, driving without 2 license plates, but never for illegal tint. I dont think anyone really cares, most ppl have illegally dark tint anyways.

Correct, I don't think law enforcement does enough about this problem. They should find people like you and crush your cars. This is a safety issue.

So now it's 25%? It was 20% not long ago. I have UV glass + 35% tint applied and the meters read 23%. Looks like I'm illegal now.

And the 20% used to be only for front glass. Sides & back, free-for-all.
