I am looking for a home inspector recommendation. I am purchasing in the Rice Military area and need someone who specializes in 3 story stucco homes.

I hope to find someone with a reasonable price range, but I certainly want someone using the most up-to-date technology, such as infrared scanning to detect problems with stucco, etc. Also, the inspector has to be willing to inspect the roof of a 3 story home. I recently learned that not all inspectors are willing to do so.

Your suggestions and recommendations will be greatly appreciated!

I like Sean Chou for stucco.[mod cut] Whoever you choose, have them tell you the difference between synthetic stucco and regular stucco. They have guidelines that are supposed to be used during construction.

Now to be negative. I have seen a lot of construction problems with stucco inside the loop, built within the last few years. Make sure you select an inspector that will tell it like it is about that issue. If it's not too late - brick is a better choice in this climate.

It's not too late, and I definitely appreciate your comments. I have to admit that I did not really know the difference between synthetic and real stucco, and I came across this old city-data thread talking about all of the issues with synthetic stucco in Houston

//www.city-data.com/forum/houst...ic-stucco.html

This certainly confirms my desire to hire a stucco specialist and depending on the finding - I might have to reconsider my choice.

Any other thoughts from people who have purchased or recently sold stucco homes. Also, I am buying an older home (not new construction), so I am really concerned about the quality of stucco construction from 8 years ago.
