Can anyone suggest non-food events/things to do that I can bring my girlfriend to on valentines day in the Houston area?

Depending on weather: the zoo, any of the parks for a nice long walk, come on down to Kemah and board a boat for a cruise around the lake...course, they are mostly dinner cruises...but there is dancing to work off that meal!

Non food related things? My mind just went blank!

No but serioulsy, I don't know much more you can do on Valentines day. If the weather permits there will be more options. It couldn't possibly be this cold then, right? I would go take a walk in the Japanese Garden in Hermann Park. And I would go paddle boat riding. And maybe check out the museums. I would take her to a wine bar(not the "Whine Bar" some apparently frequent here on city data). And I would wing it from there. I know it sounds like a bit, but I would make a day of it if I had the time off.

Actually it is supposed to be colder. Long range models (which can change considerably between now and then) are predicting cold and storms that weekend. I would plan something indoors. The museum is a good idea. Go through the gem vault at the Museum of natural sciences and give her a little gem to take home.
