Hi! My husband and I are moving to the Houston area from Connecticut. We are newly married and in our early 30's. We don't have children yet, but plan to in the future. We are looking to spend $600 to $750,000. We really like the Woodlands but noticed that you can't get much of a yard or privacy in the Woodlands. We noticed that the Spring area outside of the Woodlands has homes with much more yard and privacy.

I would say the Woodlands proper would probably perform better than the areas immediately around it. Be sure and check on tax rates and maintenance fees in the Woodlands too.

Resale value in The Woodlands is much higher than any area surrounding it. There is no comparison to Spring and The Woodlands. You should be able to find an amazing home in the price range you are looking. The benefits of The Woodlands are all the amenities(shopping, hiking areas, parks, pavillion) and the great schools. We just sold our house out their to move into Houston. We had an offer on our home within the first week it was on the market. But I do know several people that bought in surrounding areas of The Woodlands b/c they could get more for their money. When they went to sell their home it sat on the market for a long time and did not appreciate.

The Woodlands is great, but you may find that there's more variety, less homogeneity and you tend to get more for your money in the neighborhoods outside of The Woodlands with the areas in 77389 offering equally good schools. Check out Augusta Pines, Auburn Lakes Estates, Northampton.

Try southern Conroe, too. They have nice homes along League Line Road. Very hilly, also.

Hi. It's funny my husband and I are also moving to Houston from CT. We already bought our house in Spring. We had more for our money in Spring. Although we spent a lot of time in The Woodlands and we liked the surroundings, it's a bit stuffy like Greenwich in CT. We bought a house in Spring Creek Forest and it's wonderful with examplary schools. Hope this help and it might be fun to catch up in Houston. Good luck!
P.S. The houses in TX do not pick up value over the years. It might sale quickly in some areas but there is no great return on your investment.

Spring creek forest is nice as is Spring Creek oaks nearby. Spring is a nice area to live .
