DH is doing interviews with them. I'm wondering what areas are nearby that are good to live? Budget is up to 250k. We're hoping for a commute time of less than 45 minutes. We need an areqa with good schools. I really like Cinco Ranch, is that too far of a drive? Are there any communities like that nearby?

From what I hear from a couple of coworkers - Willowbrook area itself is not a great area to live in - so you might want to drive a few miles away from it and still be near but just not right at Willowbrook.

There are many nice neighborhoods around Willowbrook. Nothing wrong with the area itself either. Check our Gleannloch Farms and Champions.

Ow... I would see no need to go all the way out to Cinco Ranch... there is no direct highway between the two. I live in Cinco and have a very good friend in 77379 (Klein) near the hospital and it takes most nearly an hour to drive to her house... all in stop and go traffic. Good Gawd, it isn't worth it!

And it's so pretty out 249... also very good schools, especially in Klein ISD. Glennloch Farms, Champions, as PP said. Many areas of Tomball, Lakewood, etc... People who are "dissing" Willowbrook are dissing South of FM1960.

You will find comperable areas to Cinco Ranch in a 10 minute commute. Name what it is that you like about Cinco so much... we can help you find that very same thing in that part of town. It is the best of both worlds! Most folks live in far out suburbs for affordable, large homes and good schools... but they make the sacrifice of commute. You have the chance to have it all! A good job, close to home... why throw that away?

Take it from someone who lives in and enjoys Cinco. It is very nice here... but it's not OMG-SUPER-CRAZY-NICE. There are just as nice neighborhoods up there.

And really, if you are just itching to have a commute... check The Woodlands. As it is growing westwards, the newer parts are getting awfully close to 249...

Coworker said his wife doesn't feel safe in the 249 area that is closest to the mall -- now a few miles away and she is fine. Friend lives in a neighborhood off of Gessner & BW-8 that is about 5 minutes from the mall and although it looks nice at first - something about it feel uncomfortable, but I can't really put my finger on what it is.

I live in that area near Gessner and BW-8. None of the houses are older than 15-20 years and a lot are newer. Not a glut of apartments and the ones there have been built within the last 5 years and look nice. Nothing around here I would consider scary. A bit down the street is Jersey Village which is a nice little city.
