I think it was probaby named above, but I can't think through the 15-year fog and pull the name out.
Right next to D&B was most likely 6130 Richmond Avenue.
Very early 1989-prior: Level One
1989-1990: 6400 (relocated after fire at 6400 Richmond location)
1990-1994: Lizard Lounge (relocated from West Alabama)
1994-1996: Kaboom
1996- Tempest (short lived)
1996-1998: Boogie Nights (70s-80s)

On Richmond, just west of D&B would have been the Lizard Lounge, but there was another club west of D&B, but across the street which was more 70's-80's called Poly Esther's Culture Club.

Yeah, I think I remember going to Boogie Nights a couple of times. Thanks for the timeline.

Does anyone remember that they relocated to, of all places, Dairy-Ashford between Westheimer and Briar Forrest. I knew that would not last. 'Seems to have burned down after at some point.

Anyone remember the Railhead? It was either on Richmond or Westheimer. House band was Ice Castle. Around 1980.

Shepherd Plaza was always fun. 8.0's, Rhino Room, Metropolis, Ballroom, Live Bait, Q Club, and a C/W joint. All within a few steps of each other.

I shook hands with former Rocket Vernon Maxwell over at Ballroom. Nice guy.

Then there was Tunes Saloon, that duelling piano bar...also the original Cabo.

That was a fun era for me and my friends back then.

Shepherd Plaza still has some chill bars Davenport, McElroys, with Star Pizza, 59 Diner, Blue Fish Sushi...and Amy's Ice Cream nearby (fabulous as long as they serve their strawberry ice cream). It's kind of a chill zone for for food and bars when we don't feel like going to the other more crowded nightlife areas.

I had forgotten about the ice cream place. It was right next to 8.0's, wasn't it? Funny that you mention Vernon Maxwell, because more than once I found myself standing near Rudy T inside Live Bait on Tuesday nights when the Megatones were playing.
