Can anybody suggest me whether it is good to do home inspection before sheet rock? or Can I do Home inspection at the time of closing and skip this one?

Thanks in advance

I think both are very important - but I would even say the pre-sheetrock is even more important than the later one. Once the "skin" goes up, you can't see a lot of defects.

IMO, getting to inspect before sheet rock is quite a bonus, and if you have the chance to do so, you should most definately do so!

We had a good builder, who was doing a very good job. But we still felt the pre-sheet rock inspection was worth it. They were able to fix little issues that came up, while everything was still exposed.

Everything is hidden "forever" after the sheetrock. Until of course, down the road when you find a problem and have to punch holes in it to fix it. Have you ever lived in an older home, had repairs done and the repairman wondered aloud "what were they (the builders) thinking???"

Shoot, inspect it now, fix it now, save the headaches later...

Don't be a penny wise but a pound foolish...

As others have said, very good idea but make sure you get a very good inspector who is experienced with construction.

All homes erected in Houston, Texas are required to have a structural inspection before the sheetrocking begins by a city inspector. If you're building outside of the city limits, you can have home inspector do an inspection. In either case it's a good idea to hire a home inspector to make sure that your does at least meet the FHA minimum standards.

TAKE PICTURES OF EVERYTHING. Every wall. Every wire. Every pipe. You'll never have an opportunity like this one to document WHERE the wires are in the walls, where the pipes are, where the studs are, etc etc.

As a general rule of thumb when building a house, have the home inspected as often as you can afford. If it is possible to hire an inspector to be there every day, that would be best, but inspecting several times prior to finishing is a good idea.

Most recommendations are inspections after the slab is poured, after framing is complete, after plumbing and wiring are done pre-sheet rock, and then a final inspection.

If you're actually in the construction business, this question would definitely scare off many potential clients. Just saying.
