I just closed on a new home and went to post office service department to get keys to my post box. There is a post box across the street from my home. i initially thought my post box would be located there. but i found out it is located down the street and it is not walking distance. my question is has anyone ever had such issue. can i ask USPS to move my box to the mail box location to across the street one.

Yes, you can request it to be changed, though whether they will accomodate may depend on availability for that particular location.

When we moved in to our current home we were surprised to learn our mailbox was 2 blocks away, rather than in the box just next door. I asked the postman about it and he said I could submit a request thru the our USPS branch. I didn't bother since our box is within walking distance and I enjoy walking there with the kids.

Good luck!
