Hey smelling like a human with no deodorant or anti-perspirant is a big deal for Matthew McConnahey and Brad Pitt but somehow American's still love em'. Yes - I know Matthew's last name is majorly mispelled.

I'm sorry but you cannot convince me that the European level of stink is just lack of deodorant. It's a lack of a whole lot more on the hygiene front.

New Chamber of Commerce Slogan: Houston - It stinks to live here

I love it!

Don't worry, I'm spreading the aroma to Austin as you read. We'll have competition soon enough.

It was a study but you probably neglected to read through it.

Is it true? I don't know. i was just asking for people's thoughts on this.

The study was done on numerous factors, such as weather, rate of smokers, and others. You can look at the original link to see how they came up with this list.

I know exactly what it is. It's being used as bait right now in the city-vs-city forum where they love to bash on Houston & Texas.

And no, I still don't call it a "study" any more than I'd call that "fattest cities" list from Men's Cosmo Magazine a "study." Maybe my standards are just a tad high for what a real "study" should consist of and be carried out because of my grad school training and line of work... I didn't mean it as a personal swipe against you if it came off that way.

Another worthless "study". Every time I see the word "study", I just move on and take it with a grain of salt.

NYC is easily stinkiest population in US, as even affluent (those earning >$1MM/yr) use mass transit/cabs daily and often live in old (perhaps historic and charming to the smelly) dumps w/weak HVAC....not unlike the allegedly important and civilized cities of Europe or Japan, where odors are aggravated by often higher rates of smoking

Poor and homeless probably smell equally bad anywhere in world
Now, that I can get, since many people live in 60 sq ft "apartments" smaller than our closets and pay about what an average Houstonian pays for rent on a 2/2 apartment here...just to say that live in Manhattan. Let's shower where we also wash our dishes. YUM!

I don't get how H-town falls into this since we're also allegedly really fat (you know, because a survey back in '02 says we have a lot of fast food joints per capita, so we're lined up out the door at all of them), which means the hotter nine months of the year, we are sitting inside with the AC running full blast.

So, we eat a lot and we don't bathe. Sounds like someone decided to write a story about our panhandlers. Well, I take that back. Most of them do not live under the nearest overpass or bridge...many of them live pretty comfy as well, I can imagine. Though, I give the panhandler over here at Telephone and Bellfort credit that I almost hit that was in the turn lane for some reason. It was rather dark out and he was still doing his thing.
