I'll second 77005. Besides being quite nice, West University (technically not part of the city of Houston) has its own police department which is highly visible. We once had cops pass us five times during one night time dog walk (maybe we just look suspicious!). If you are extremely concerned about safety, this might be significant.

We have so many zip codes here, it's unreal.
