My Partner and I will be relocating to Houston next year~ we are a mixed race couple (asian/caucasian) with a substantial age difference~both professionals living a very quiet lifestyle together. While we understand that there is a "gay area" to live in downtown, our preferred choice would be to buy a house in the suburbs as we are both homebody's who enjoy comfortable surroundings.

Any suggestions on better suburbs that we might "fit in" quietly without being harassed by neighbors for our alternative life styles?

Thats a hard question to answer to be honest.. You just never know who you will have as neighbors. As for me, I live in the Katy suburbs and wouldnt care one bit if you lived there as long as you dont park you car on the road, keep your house kept up and be a good neighbor in general, who lives in the house with you is irrelevant to me.

agreed...

If the OP is coming to houston for attention, he will be disappointed.
Unless he dresses like the Village People, no one here will even notice he's gay and a mixed couple....

As long as you keep low profile just like everyone else you should be fine. If you start the I am gay and I am here to stay I am sure you ail be getting a lot of heat anywhere

I have no idea,
but I'm guessing your best bet would be to find a place close to "The Room Bar & Lounge" in Spring, TX

Default Another GAY + HOUSTON thread...

It does not cease to amaze me... people ask where they can live and lead normal lives, but then seek out areas inclusive to GAY-friendly neighbors. It is like the people who purposely choose to huddle together in their own area in a corporate cafeteria, then complain that all the others in the cafeteria are "racist", yet the "racist" people have no clue that they are.

I see gay people everywhere I go in Houston and even live next door to a gay couple, but no one I know ever asks... Hey, are you Gay?! 'Look', they are Gay! Here comes that Gay couple'. It just does not happen that I'm aware of, so I would say live where you like the settings and don't worry about it; nothing you can do will change people's minds.

Only thing I would say is maybe think twice about Montgomery County. Do some research if you wonder why, but that is not Houston proper anyway. Welcome to Houston.

I think you'd love Sugar Land.

BTW, you'll have to excuse the less-than-welcoming tone of some of my fellow Houstonians.
